R.A.C.E.(Remission and Cures Everywhere), Inc. is a group of experienced boating enthusiasts who are dedicated to providing a way for people with cancer and their caregivers to enjoy Long Island Sound by boat in a safe, supervised environment.
According to the American Cancer Society, there are over 11 million people in the U.S. who have had some type of cancer. Over 10,000 children per year will be diagnosed with cancer. Most of the childhood cancers are a blood cancer like leukemia. Fortunately, many of these men, women and children are presently cancer-free; however, many still battle cancer daily.
R.A.C.E. believes that the healing power of the water can make a big difference in these patients’ lives. We offer a brief and peaceful respite from the pain, stress, and emotional burden of their physical illness.
R.A.C.E. welcomes anyone who has been touched by cancer, but, we are especially dedicated to making our services available to children and their families.
These trips have been proven to be a refreshing and relaxing opportunity for individual development, leadership and confidence-building, while providing a positive, unforgettable and possibly life-changing experience.
We have partnered with Captain Bob this year on the Volsunga IV out of the Thimble Islands to offer free two-hour boat trips for cancer patients, their families and caregivers.
Donations to R.A.C.E. allow us to provide these trips at no cost to the passengers.
